I've been saying this for a while now, that there are several trends that seem to be developing. Each one, paving a path leading to one form of collapse or another. Social, economic or environmental collapse that is and on a global scale. I've been observing the weather changes occurring all around the globe these days. What I've been seeing scares me! Something’s gone very wrong, even here in TN where I live, we're getting way too much rain for this time of year. Some say that it's a cyclical pattern that is irreversible and outside of our control. I tend to believe that it's the result of mankind’s vehement assault on the ecosystems and the planet in general. My only hope is that Bush isn't appointed once again as president for another four years. If he's given that much more time to relax or quell even more standards that literally protect the delicate balance of nature, we're screwed! It might already be too late even. I don’t want to come across as being "pessimistic" as Bush would say about Kerry's campaign. But why not be a realist? Being ignorantly optimistic and thus blind to reality with greed is the ploy of The Bush campaign. You tell me what belief system is more dangerous and potentially detrimental to the well being of our ourselves & future?

KNOWTHIS, I don't think anyone here is ignorantly optimistic, but the combination of man's influence AND the sun's cycles seem to both be at work here. Unfortunately, I think from all my reading, that the global warming and/or this mini-ice age thing -- is more controlled by the sun and the solar system than any of our attempts at mitigating pollution of any kind, including the replenishing of the rain forests. BUT, maybe our technology utilized in the right and loving way for our planet, will help. Otherwise, mere adaptation will have to prevail. I know it seems difficult with the heavy rains, but imagine a severe drought in your area. Wouldn't that be worse? Inevitably, we are, as a planet, in for severe climate changes and earth changes. Again, why is possibly not as important as how we deal with it. We as a plantetary people could work together to adapt and mitigate climate problems or we could respond to it with fear. This is the political spin of it and the spiritual spin of it. I suppose we all make our choices through our individual reactions related to choosing political leaders as well as staying informed, rolling with the punches, and generally maintaining a calm center. This calm center part and coming together with like intention and group prayer may do the greatest good! That's my take on it for what it's worth!
